SOCOTEC's Dubai teams are participating in the construction of the first traditional Hindu temple in the Middle East.
Our experts are checking that the project design and construction method are compliant with the requirements of local regulations. An opportunity to compare ancestral construction methods with modern requirements. The temple will be built using traditional techniques and materials as far as possible, for instance pink sandstone sourced directly from Rajasthan for the structure, or marble imported from Macedonia for the embellishments. As for the outbuildings, they will all be constructed in concrete and steel.
Located in the desert yet within easy reach of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, this temple will be the first real place of worship for all the region's Hindu population. Covering more than 5 hectares, its design is directly inspired by the greatest Hindu temples of India.
The cornerstone laying ceremony took place on 20 April 2019, in the presence of tens of thousands of believers. Delivery is scheduled for 2022.
