Key Information
- Project Name: Miami Freedom Park
- Client: Arquitectonica
- Location: Miami, FL
- Services Provided: Fire and Life Safety, Performance-Based Design, LEED consulting, and Commissioning
Project overview
The design of Miami Freedom Park presents a distinctive configuration, blending open-air stands and concourses with enclosed interior spaces, where evacuation routes integrate both indoor and outdoor strategies. This hybrid layout required thorough compliance analysis under the Florida Building Code (FBC) and the Florida Fire Prevention Code (FFPC).
Spanning 131 acres, the development is intended to serve as a landmark destination for Miami residents, featuring a tech hub, restaurants and shops, soccer fields for the community, a 25,000-seat stadium for Inter Miami, and many more features.
The scope of the challenge went beyond code interpretation alone, requiring close alignment between the architectural concept, environmental sustainability targets, and life safety obligations.

Results & impact
By aligning early with the Florida Building Code and Fire Prevention Code through performance-based design, the project minimizes delays, avoids redesign, and reduces regulatory uncertainty especially critical for a complex, hybrid stadium environment.
The integration of fire protection, life safety, and architectural intent allows for greater design flexibility while maintaining high safety standards. This ensures the vision of an open, dynamic venue is preserved without added constraints.
The project is progressing toward LEED BD+C: New Construction v4 certification, with SOCOTEC committed to providing continued support across upcoming development phases. The project is positioned to achieve high environmental performance, lowering energy and water costs while increasing long-term asset value and marketability.
Set to open in April 2026, the Miami Freedom Park will provide a safe, accessible, and inclusive destination for the community.
This project reflects SOCOTEC’s ability to deploy a fully integrated response, bringing together technical advisory, regulatory compliance and sustainability expertise to generate lasting value for clients throughout the design and construction journey.
