Project details

For years, ''The Bunker'' was known as a popular student center and mensa, consisting of a massive and striking building. In recent decades, the building fell into disrepair and became a closed bastion. With the renovation of the bunker and the addition of the tower, the site is transforming from closed to open. The Bunker will be renovated into a lively Grand Café and interesting place with offices. Through the realization of the residential tower (100 meters high), where diversity is the common thread, the Bunker Tower should become a place for people of different ages and origins, from starters and young families to seniors who want to be in the middle of the city. New life for a historic place in Eindhoven.

Prior to the start of the renovation and realization, SOCOTEC Netherlands conducted geotechnical soil investigations. Based on these investigations, advice was written for the developer and contractor regarding the choice of foundations and the excavation advice. Subsequently, a risk analysis was written, mapping the surroundings of the construction site and assessing the possible risks. During the execution of the realization, SOCOTEC Netherlands carried out various types of risk management measures in order to minimize the risk of damage to the surroundings.

The following measurements were carried out:

  • Performing a architectural survey ;
  • Performing vibration measurements in the surrounding area ;
  • Performing settlement measurements of the surroundings objects.
