SOCOTEC reinforces its service range in the nuclear sector The SOCOTEC Group has continued to expand in the nuclear sector through the acquisition of SIFOP in Dunkirk.
Following on from the 2014 acquisition of Sofranext, another nuclear sector services company, SOCOTEC has now acquired the entire share capital of SIFOP. Previously, it owned 20% of the company.
Set up in 1961 by the Dunkirk Chamber of Commerce and Industry (now the Côte d’Opale CCI), SIFOP dispenses all training courses in safety and security required to gain access to a nuclear site, as well as most of the technical courses qualifying people to work in industrial maintenance. Located in Dunkirk, the company has 15 employees and posted revenue of €2.15 million in 2014.
This acquisition takes SOCOTEC’s revenue from nuclear training to €4.55 million, ranking it among the Top 3 in France for accident prevention and safety training in the nuclear field. SIFOP’s services round out SOCOTEC’s range in the nuclear sector, which also includes
- non-destructive testing;
- QA/QC inspection, expediting and assistance;
- technical and regulatory inspection;
- risk and hazard surveys, and digital simulations.
In total, the SOCOTEC Group generates revenue of €35 million in the nuclear sector.
