As part of the construction of the Kintele sports complex in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, SOCOTEC teams have been providing assistance to the owner and performing inspection and infrastructure works monitoring services since early 2013.
To successfully execute these assignments within the short timeframes, a special unit comprising around 30 people (engineers and technicians) was set up within SOCOTEC’s Sub-Saharan Africa Department.
The complex consists of a 60,000-seat football and athletics stadium, a 10,000-seat indoor arena and a 2,000-seat swimming pool, as well as reception facilities and administration buildings, and the Olympic Village.
SOCOTEC was also in charge of inspecting the construction of roads leading to the complex.
SOCOTEC’s contribution to the project has enabled the Republic of Congo to meet its challenge and host the 11th All Africa Games in Kintele from 4 to 19 September.
Known as Brazzaville 2015, the games will mark the 50th anniversary of the first All Africa Games, which were held in Brazzaville.
