By appointing Eric Guilhou and Georges Balzer, the SOCOTEC Group has moved to strengthen its executive team.
On September 1st, 2014, Eric Guilhou joined the SOCOTEC Group as Chief Financial Officer in charge of financial services, external growth and information systems, as well as the legal, purchasing and real estate departments. Georges Balzer also joined SOCOTEC on September 1st; starting from January 1st, he will be taking over as Operations Director for SOCOTEC France from Pierre Puech, who will be retiring. Both are members of SOCOTEC’s Executive Committee.
After graduating from ESCEM business school (ESC Poitiers), Eric Guilhou started his career in 1990 at ATOS, an international IT services company, and spent most of his working life there. After starting out as Special Adviser to the Chairman, he was appointed Chief Financial Officer before rising to the position of COO in charge of all support functions and mergers and acquisitions, and became a member of the Management Board in 2000. Since 2011, he has served as Chief Financial Officer at CGI France, a management consultancy firm.
A graduate of the École Normale Supérieure, holder of an agrégation and a PhD in Physics, Georges Balzer started his career at EDF as a research engineer at the Studies and Research Department, before being given the energy services portfolio within the Key Accounts department of the Sales Division. In 2001, he was given responsibility for international development at Dalkia, and was then appointed General Manager of the company’s British subsidiary, headquartered in London. In 2009, he became CEO of Sodexo Energie et Maintenance (formerly Altys), a subsidiary offering multitechnical maintenance services.
